Recently, the US Coast Guard has created a rule to ban anyone from coming within 65 feet of the oil containment booms.  Without Coast guard approval, of course. They originally tried to make the exclusion zone 300 feet. They claim that this is done to ensure the safety of the public. However, it is currently preventing reporters and members of the media from reporting the conditions down in the Gulf.

Well, the first year or so of Obama’s administration has been interesting. The healthcare battle seems to finally be over as the Democrats have successfully pushed through the much needed reform bill. But, the war for reform has just begun and if the previous battle was any indication, it will not be easy.

Lawmakers moved closer to passing sweeping reform of the financial system as a Senate panel approved new regulations for the complex derivatives market with the backing of GOP Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa. Jeffrey Brown talks to experts about derivatives rules and the overall reform effort.

Here is video of President Obama today in Prague where he dismissed criticism by Sarah Palin on his decision to guarantee that the U.S. will not respond with Nuclear Weapons even if attacked with Chemical or Biological Weapons. When asked for a response, Obama said, ” “I really have no response. Because last I checked, Sarah Palin’s not much of an expert on nuclear issues.”

The tone around the US has been rather negative over the past year and it is almost entirely coming from the extreme right wing. Whether it is Palin with her lies about death panels, her attacks on anyone (Letterman, LL Cool J, etc), her recent targeting of certain politicians, Glenn Beck’s claims that Obama is not a US Citizen, Rush Limbaugh’s threats against democrats, the Barack the Magic Negro song or a recent letter sent out by a GOP group threatening to “remove”  a lot of governors from office (both dems and repubs).

In the wake of the passage of health care reform, Jim Lehrer talks to historians Ellen Fitzpatrick and Richard Norton Smith and columnists Michael Gerson and Clarence Page about what the victory means for the Obama presidency.

The circus is finally wrapping up and about to leave town. Surprisingly, this circus has managed to create a new health care system in the United States and come to near Universal care.  Bravo! Against all odds, Obama and the Democrat Party have managed to reform a system that needed urgent reform.  The bill has already been signed into law, Tuesday, March 23, 2010. After this the bill will go onto the Senate to complete the process of reconciliation.
