Students have carried out rallies at dozens of universities and schools across the United States in protest against cuts to public education funding.
Some demonstrations turned violent as students blocked the main gates of a California university and smashed car windows.

Minnesota has often been known as a leader in many facets of the public sector. We provide top-notch healthcare (used to) and have historically ranked among the top States in many education statistics. This would be great if the United States had an education system that was comparable to other industrialized countries.

Texas is an odd state that is an assortment of anti-big government supporters, oil barons and law and order wielders. Remember, this is the state that warns all who can hear/read to not mess with it. Apparently, this applies to ten year old Texas residents as well. In continuing its long history of limited government and supporting individual’s rights Texas has issued a $260 ticket to a ten year old student for being disruptive in class. Yes, you are reading this correctly, a ten year old.

The thought of Presidential failure has been a common reoccurrence throughout my life. I have never seen a half-way decent president. I was too young to remember Reagan and the oft-reported “Greatness” and all I remember about Bush Sr. is that he was portrayed as an out-of-touch kook on MTV. Meanwhile, Tricky Dick was dishing out smooth jazz sax to young crowds and was thoroughly impressive. That is, until he decided that Free Trade on steroids is a great idea and he used the Oval Office for many other activities as well.

The feeling of guilt was soon to creep into my daily thoughts. I had felt as if I had been totally taken advantage of. I was a wide-eyed student who was filled with hope and ambition, one who was not able to afford college. We were not a poor family by any means. I grew up in a nice four bedroom house in a nice part of town; we are the typical middle class family.
