So, the mid-term elections are behind us, for the most part. Excluding a few recounts (I’m looking at you Minnesota). What is confusing to me about these elections is that people voted for both parties. In Minnesota, the Republican Party took the State Senate and State House for the first time in a very long time. But, the DFL (MN Democrats) took the Governorship for the first time since the eighties.

Recently there has been fuss over a “joke” made by a Democratic congressman. He made a remark to a Navy Admiral that Guam might capsize if more US military is positioned there. Obviously, the congressmen did not truly believe that the island would capsize. But it is still pretty funny.

The current state of politics in the United States is pathetic and highly partisan. In practice, this form of government will not continue to work. This partisan behavior is both abhorrent and un-American. It is because of this behavior that America is facing a crisis today. Not only are we facing a financial crisis, but also one that has far greater implications. America is facing a crisis of morality.
