Texas Rep. Ron Paul is known as being a staunch Republican-Libertarian hybrid that has incredible disdain towards the federal government. He has also produced a few sons, one of which has decided to run for the Senate in Kentucky.
Rand Paul is an ophthalmologist (eye doctor) and founder of Kentucky Taxpayers United, an anti-taxation organization. He has also spent considerable amounts of time crusading for his father, Ron, on his numerous Presidential campaigns.

People should always retain a watchful eye on the government. We have good reason to distrust them; we have been lied to, cheated and deliberately led into false wars. Vietnam, Iraq and Spain/Cuba come to mind. The Bush administration wire-tapped US citizens, tortured people all over the world and lied to the American public to lead us into a war for reasons not yet known.

The idea of universal health care in the United States has remained the figurative 800 pound gorilla in the room. In the our history there has never been a time that needs universal health care legislation more than we do currently. Our country needs it and we need it now!
Today we are faced with a challenge unique to the United States. We have been led to believe that our private system is the way to go, but now it is failing. We spend more money, in terms of per capita and in total terms, than any other nation of the planet, but yet we have almost 50 million uninsured.

The thought of Presidential failure has been a common reoccurrence throughout my life. I have never seen a half-way decent president. I was too young to remember Reagan and the oft-reported “Greatness” and all I remember about Bush Sr. is that he was portrayed as an out-of-touch kook on MTV. Meanwhile, Tricky Dick was dishing out smooth jazz sax to young crowds and was thoroughly impressive. That is, until he decided that Free Trade on steroids is a great idea and he used the Oval Office for many other activities as well.
