Apple retail store burglarized in Ecuador’s Capital

The latest report from Quito yesterday Apple’s authorized reseller “Mundo Mac” translates into Mac World had $10,000 worth of stolen merchandise. The burglars forced their way through the main entrance of the store and stole computers and accessories, according to report.

By the time local authorities arrived at 8:00 p.m. they only found shattered glass spread across inside out of the retail store.

Two security guards had intercepted the burglars during the theft in progress and guns fired during the robbery. Fortunately no injuries or deaths reported except the loss of very expensive merchandise.

The country going through hardship with power and water outages forced to partner with military to combat rising crime across the country.

In late September 2009 a U.S Government Agency Overseas Security Advisory Council issued a statement regarding the crime unfolding in Cities in Quito and Guayaquil. The agency encouraged American citizens to exercise caution and register at the U.S embassy.

Another Government agency from the U.K known as the Foreign & Commonwealth reported in conjunction to the U.S report the rise in crime, arm robbery and rape. According to the U.K report it highlighted:  In Quito, you should be particularly wary in ‘La Carolina’ and ‘El Ejido’ parks, and in ‘La Mariscal’, ‘La Carolina’, ‘La Floresta’ and ‘La Marin’ districts, as well as in the old town and the central bus station.

Same precautions were issued to British travelers to remember to take proper identifications and avoid the locations previously mentioned.

Ecuador’s Government faces tough challenges including Rafael Correa. Questions remain in his ties to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, although has on different occasions to foreign press he is not aligning to the political philosophies prescribed by Chavez.

The region in South America continues to the left and how it will perform in the next decade remains to be seen.

    Who was the ignorant that put that pic there saying it is Quito?!. It’s not!, it’s La Paz in Bolivia. Where did you learn journalism, retarded!. Quito is a lot much prettier.
