With the beginning of Thursday Night Football, I want to rant a little bit on how too many changes have been made for the worse. Look no further then tonight an NFL game, which is always a big deal, will air and many people will have no access to watch it. Sure it is available if you want to pay for it but it’s not worth it for just a few games.
Another recent development by the NFL is the movement of the Playoff games start times. The games always used to start at noon and three. Now they are starting at 3 or 4 and 6 or 7 at night. So now after a season of early starts we now have to wait part of the day when most likely the amount of people watching the game is almost no different. I think football is meant to be played on Sunday afternoons.
Now onto college football, what happened to the greatness of New Years Day? It used to be a day of non-stop action. There were games when you woke up and after the last game was over it was time to go to sleep. Now there are only a few games on that day. The major BCS bowl games are spread out over a week and the Championship game can be a week after New Years. A day of tradition is now basically just another day.
There still are a few good things. The March Madness NCAA basketball tournament is still awesome. The first days of the tournament are some of, if not the best days of sports going. Basketball all day long, upsets galore, and nail biting finishes, what’s not to love.
I also love the NHL outdoor Winter Classic. The NHL made a great decision to air the game on New Year’s Day. People aren’t going out much after New Year’s Eve and with fewer bowl games, it’s a perfect time for this game.

I think it’s so dumb how monday = espn, and thurs (if happening) is on NFL network…what the heck? i think everyone should be able to watch every game.
