The White House has turned to its own blog in order to battle the misinformation that is running rampant across the country. It was widely reported across the web that Sen. Red was pursuing a public option for the new healthcare bill that Obama was opposed to. It was reported that Obama wanted to keep the current Snowe and Baucus bill in order to say it was a bipartisan effort.
The posting from the White House blog is below.
A rumor is making the rounds that the White House and Senator Reid are pursuing different strategies on the public option. Those rumors are absolutely false.
In his September 9th address to Congress, President Obama made clear that he supports the public option because it has the potential to play an essential role in holding insurance companies accountable through choice and competition. That continues to be the President’s position.
Senator Reid and his leadership team are now working to get the most effective bill possible approved by the Senate. President Obama completely supports their efforts and has full confidence they will succeed and continue the unprecedented progress that is being made in both the House and Senate.

It looks as if the White House will be continuing their push for a public option against a Republican media machine that is in full propaganda mode. I applaud the White House and Sen. Reid for not backing down against ignorance, misinformation and fear. We have a major problem and it is only going to get worse. If the Republicans do not want to participate in Health Care reform, that is okay, they have had their chance and have chosen to spread rumor, lies and provide no solutions instead. Now, we will just have to solve this problem without their “help” and I enthusiastically support this decision to bring back the public option.
