One thing that I look to do during my work day is roam the vast expanse of internet and see if I can find interesting topics to share or research.  A lot of what I find I consider to be BS. It is either not news worthy or it is just incorrect. Some if it I feel like I am not qualified to speak about or that it will not fit the topics for Politablog.

One of these topics I have repeatedly stumbled upon is so ludicrous that it baffles me that anyone can come anywhere close to even half-way believing the tiniest sliver of this is true.

This is what I stumbled across:

Residents of New Mexico, just north of the border with Mexico, report that Chinese troops are operating out of northern Mexico and frequently make incursions into the United States.

Two U.S. Border Patrol agents, who have spoken on the condition of anonymity, fearing they will lose their jobs, said they have seen Chinese troops on the northern side of the border and that they have duly reported the situation to their headquarters. The agents said large numbers of the troops are frequently on U.S. territory about 32 miles southwest of Las Cruces, N.M., near the town of Deming.

The Border Patrol, U.S. Customs Service and the Luna County, N.M. Sheriff’s Department officially claims no knowledge of the incidents.

However, the Border Patrol and local law enforcement have previously reported to local news media that Asian-appearing soldiers in military-style uniforms have been seen with Mexican troops along the border, and on one occasion exchanged gunfire with U.S. officers on the U.S. side of the border.

American Free Press previously reported the sightings of oriental-speaking troops on American territory.

In this recent case, however, the Chinese troops are reported to be in large units, in full uniform and not accompanied by Mexican troops.

The Border Patrol officers say they have informed their headquarters of the foreign troops on U.S. territory. Following their disclosure, a unit of U.S. Marines—or individuals dressed like Marines—joined the Border Patrol officers and engaged the Chinese troops in conversation. Officially there are no Marine units based in the area.

Front companies for the Chinese government have established a large port and airport in Freeport, Bahamas, and their presence has been reported in other areas of the Caribbean and Central America, including Cuba.

China has been reported to be interested in taking over a giant, high-tech electronics spy center, which has been operated for years by the Russians near Lourdes, Cuba, and has been eavesdropping on U.S. telephone and radio communications all along the East Coast.

Now, the website I got this from is this:

And it is an older post. What surprised me is that in the past few months hundreds of people have been discussing this matter like it is fact on various forums.

So, I decided that I was going to post a comment on their board. Later, after writing my comment, I decided not to share it with these people. But, I will share it with you.

I decided to not share this with any of these people for various reasons. Number 1 is that this information is available to anyone who wants it. An ignorant person has the tools to become enlightened, they just choose not to do so.  It seems that using logic, facts or any other tools of rational thought do not work, so why bother?

2nd, I decided not to share this information on their website because it seems like they are all nutcases and I would rather not have a conversation with psychopaths who live their lives in the absence of logic.

Although, some people did comment that this may in fact be due to the remake of the classic Red Dawn film. Either way I had to respond.

Anyways, here is my response:

1st off. This is incorrect and not factual.

2nd, anyone who believes this is gullible and really needs to do some fact checking.

3rd, it is obvious that many of you, if not all of you, have no idea what it is you are even discussing.

If this scenario were to be true and China was invading via Mexico (which is utter BS, BTW, Mexico is pretty much thoroughly controlled by the US) then they would need to have the naval support and air support to maintain the onslaught brought on by at minimum 5 million troops. (This number was previously suggested as being the amount of Chinese troops in Mexico)

So, what then must be assumed is that the Chinese would have an airbase and also the capabilities to launch a naval assault and have naval support as well.

Let us check some of the most recent figures.

China.

Total Navy Ships: 760.

Aircraft Carriers: 1 [2010]. Destroyers: 21 [2004]. Submarines: 68 [2004].

A number of these ships are run on diesel as well.

Airforce, Total Aircraft: 1,900.

The United States:

Total Navy Ships: 1,559,

Aircraft Carriers: 11 [2008], Destroyers: 50 [2008], Submarines: 75 [2008].

A large number of these are nuclear powered, fast and built from the most recent technology. Not relics from the 1950′s, like a number of Chinese ships.

But, it continues:

For the US: Total Aircraft: 18,169, Helicopters: 4,593 [2003].

Take in mind that a lot of these numbers are 7 years old or so. Since 2003, the military spending of the US has gone out of control, way beyond what China, Russia and the rest of the world are spending on defense.

In 2006, the Defense Department base budget was $411 billion, in 2007 $430 billion, in 2008 $481 billion, in 2009 $515.4 billion. For the fiscal year 2010, Barrack Obama has already requested $533.7 billion. This does not include additional War on Terror spending or the expenditures for the BioShield operations which is “part of a broader strategy to defend America against the threat of weapons of mass destruction” (Project BioShield Act of 2004).

On top of all of this spending, and all of the personnel involved, here is another statistic that really sums up the US Empire. There are 156 countries in the world with U.S. troops stationed there. 63 countries have U.S. military bases and troops. While, there are only 46 countries with no U.S. military presence.

Currently, the United States recognizes 196 independent countries in the world. This excludes Taiwan (because of China), Greenland, Palestine, The Western Sahara, Scotland, Wales and other nations as well. But, it includes Kosovo. Out of 196 countries, the US has troops in 156.

The Department of Defense owns 845,441 structures around the world that spans over 30 million acres, making the US department of defense the world’s largest land owner.

China does not have this strength available to them at the present time.

Here are some great facts: http://www.comw.org/cmp/fulltext/iddschina.html

Personally, I am opposed to the continuation of the US empire because I think it is draining our resources at home and the opposition is not there that would require us to maintain this much of an advantage.

However, in the future, China could pose a military threat. They have already begun spending tremendous amounts of money to go towards electronic sabotage techniques and towards advancing their notoriously crappy ballistic missile programs.

At the moment, if the US and China were to go to war it would be fought in China, not on US soil. China would be able to significantly hurt US satellites, communication and other functions.  If, the UK, India, the EU, and others decided to not help the US (or China) the US would win. I am not even mentioning nuclear weapons, btw. The US would have the whole of China destroyed in a matter of an hour or two if Nukes were involved.

But, the key to all of this is that it will not happen anytime soon.  The “news” regarding Chinese troops in Mexico is laughable and should barely even be acknowledged.

In other terms, that dog won’t hunt.
