America v. Europa

America v. Europa

Authors Note: This article was written in 2007.

When the European Economic Community (EEC) was formed in 1957, few would have expected the Union to develop into an economic powerhouse capable of challenging American economic dominance.  Since the end of World War Two the United States has dominated the international system in terms of military, economy and culture.  The dominance of the U.S. has rarely been threatened and is maintained to this day, although a new threat has emerged.  Already compiling a GDP of $13.62 trillion (PPP), the European Union is in the best position to challenge the economic dominance of the United States.  But, the many factors working against the E.U. will ultimately lead to the continuation of American economic dominance.

The Great Compromise

The Great Compromise

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of health care reform. The constant realignment of positions, back and forth on legislation and overall amateurish atmosphere of this process has been absurd. But, somehow, our Democratic legislators have managed to keep the possibility of reform alive by compromising on almost every issue they claimed was steadfast.

Foxx’s Fear Mongering

Foxx’s Fear Mongering

Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina is fear mongering, this is clear. But she is also a peddler of misinformation and lies. In one of the most egregious and striking comparisons yet, Rep. Foxx said that the Democrat’s health care bill should be feared MORE then terrorism. “I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country.”

Oh Arnold.

Oh Arnold.

To the Members of the California State Assembly:

I am returning Assembly Bill 1176 without my signature.

For some time now I have lamented the fact that major issues are overlooked while many
unnecessary bills come to me for consideration. Water reform, prison reform, health
care are major issues my Administration has brought to the table, but the Legislature just
kicks the can down the alley.

Yet another legislative year has come and gone without the major reforms Californians
overwhelmingly deserve. In light of this, and after careful consideration, I believe it is
unnecessary to sign this measure at this time.

Sincerely,

Arnold Schwarzenegger

….Did you catch the hidden Message?  Oh Arnold.

Interracial Couple Denied

Interracial Couple Denied

Surprisingly, the state that allows creationism to be taught in its science classrooms is also the one that has a Judge denying interracial couples the right to marry.

With sulfur radiating from his soul, Judge Keith Bardwell proudly proclaimed, “I’m not a racist. I just don’t believe in mixing the races that way, I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else.” Really? You have piles and piles of black friends? That is how you decide to defend yourself? Good job judge, I can see you take your duty as an Officer of the Court very seriously.

Snowe Day for Health Care

Snowe Day for Health Care

Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine has said she will throw her support behind Sen. Max Baucus’ compromised health care reform bill. This bill fails way short of the goals set by the Obama administration during his campaign and has been blasted by Democrats and Republicans alike.

Don’t mess with Texas

Don’t mess with Texas

Texas is an odd state that is an assortment of anti-big government supporters, oil barons and law and order wielders. Remember, this is the state that warns all who can hear/read to not mess with it. Apparently, this applies to ten year old Texas residents as well. In continuing its long history of limited government and supporting individual’s rights Texas has issued a $260 ticket to a ten year old student for being disruptive in class. Yes, you are reading this correctly, a ten year old.

Pawlenty Poll

Pawlenty Poll

In a recent poll of 1,000 adults conducted by Star Tribune only 30% of Minnesotans supported a White House run for Republican governor Tim Pawlenty. The question that garnered a whopping 30% of support was, “Would you like to see Tim Pawlenty run for president in 2012, or not?”

In response to that question, 30% of all respondents said “yes,” 55% said “no,” and 15% either didn’t have an opinion or refused to answer.
