Recently, the GOP of MN announced that Tom Emmer would be their candidate for Governor. Emmer, known for being in the far-right of the Republican Party, is a big shift in thinking for the MN GOP. No longer is the MN GOP a party of fiscal responsibility or moderate politics. Instead they are the victims of an orchestrated takeover of the party by the most extreme elements of it.

This was too good to pass up, I read this and just thought I had to share. The Governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty, has a radio show and apparently things got a little out of control. Most of this backlash is due to Pawlenty’s attempts to block funding for education, unemployment benefits and a number of other worthwhile and necessary programs. Why Minnesotans voted for this guy I will never know, but he has done a lot of damage to this great state. Just look at our national rankings.

Sen. Franken has faced a daunting challenge in his first year as a US Senator. He barely won a highly contested and much publicized election with Norm Coleman and is part of a party/movement that is losing momentum rather quickly. Franken has also had to overcome a number of other obstacles. Many people (Republicans) have argued that Franken is unfit to be a Senator because of his previous employment in Hollywood and on Air America as a Radio commentator.

So, I was wrong about a few of those games. I went 2-2 in my predictions, missing the Jets victory over the Chargers and the Saints destruction of the Cardinals defense.

“The Senate vote this morning was an important step forward to a final vote on health care reform. I will continue to push for a final bill that includes strong Minnesota-model cost reforms, deficit reduction, protections against insurance company abuses, and strong, stable Medicare coverage.

Statement on Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
We’ve been working on this bill for a long time. I’m proud of what we’re doing, I’m really proud. Every senator has had his or her chance to speak up and help make this a better bill, or to make their case against the bill.

The state populations from the 2010 US Census have been released. The states with the biggest growth are Wyoming, Utah and Texas. This means that redistricting and changes in Congress are soon to happen. It looks like Minnesota, Missouri and Illinois could lose one seat and Ohio could lose two.

“T-Pa” as President? You better believe it! The one-man veto machine (commonly referred to as Governor Pawlenty) might be taking his show on the road. He has recently announced his intentions to not run for a third term as Governor of Minnesota. This means that he has something else up his sleeve because it would be very odd for Pawlenty, at age 48, to end his political career.

Minnesota has often been known as a leader in many facets of the public sector. We provide top-notch healthcare (used to) and have historically ranked among the top States in many education statistics. This would be great if the United States had an education system that was comparable to other industrialized countries.

In a recent poll of 1,000 adults conducted by Star Tribune only 30% of Minnesotans supported a White House run for Republican governor Tim Pawlenty. The question that garnered a whopping 30% of support was, “Would you like to see Tim Pawlenty run for president in 2012, or not?”
In response to that question, 30% of all respondents said “yes,” 55% said “no,” and 15% either didn’t have an opinion or refused to answer.
