America is at a crossroads and we must decide.

America is at a crossroads and we must decide.

Mr. Glenn Beck held a rally on the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s  “I Have a Dream” speech. He held his rally for ‘Restoring Honor’ at the same location as MLK did 47 years ago as well. I watched the whole speech and was surprised by his out-of-character appeals for unity, positivity and cohesion amongst all people.

Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear.

Is the United States a Christian Nation?

Is the United States a Christian Nation?

Glenn Beck, as well as a number of other Conservative commentators, have recently made claims that the United States is a Christian Nation, that we are in a religious war and that our Founding Fathers wanted us to be a Christian Nation.

Safe to Assume Naval Power

Safe to Assume Naval Power

The highly anticipated arrival of the new Chinese Anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) is finely upon us and (predictably) many in the US are unnecessarily fretting over this development.

65 Foot Ban on Transparency

65 Foot Ban on Transparency

Recently, the US Coast Guard has created a rule to ban anyone from coming within 65 feet of the oil containment booms.  Without Coast guard approval, of course. They originally tried to make the exclusion zone 300 feet. They claim that this is done to ensure the safety of the public. However, it is currently preventing reporters and members of the media from reporting the conditions down in the Gulf.

Normally, I would do some research on an issue and then give my two cents and move on. Living in MN we get a lot of the pro-ethanol propaganda and to be fair, I am not very knowledgeable on the subject.

Avoidable

Avoidable

It is almost the 4th of July. It is getting hot outside and we had our first big thunderstorm of the year this past week. I love this time of the year. As we move forward celebrating another Independence Day I think it is appropriate to look at some current news stories affecting our nation.

That dog won’t hunt

That dog won’t hunt

One thing that I look to do during my work day is roam the vast expanse of internet and see if I can find interesting topics to share or research.  A lot of what I find I consider to be BS. It is either not news worthy or it is just incorrect. Some if it I feel like I am not qualified to speak about or that it will not fit the topics for Politablog.

To Float More Freely

To Float More Freely

I never took an economics course in college and this is something that I deeply regret. Recently, China announced that they would allow their currency (the Yuan) to float more freely.
