It has been about a week since my last posting, thank you all for you patience. There has been quite a lot going on in the world and in politics. Of course there is the earthquake in Chile that we are all paying close attention too. We also have the Health care bill resurgence that has taken place over the past couple of weeks.

It is obvious to many people that our nation is undergoing a change and we are trying to do so at a time of unparalleled debt. This can be a tricky thing to do. How can one manage the budget, fight multiple wars and have socially progressive programs? This seems like a recipe for disaster, bankruptcy and possibly far worse.

The big speech was a few nights ago and Obama did a great job. He certainly brought a different tone with him as he delivered a stirring, informal and commanding address. Obama needed to make some points about his predecessor (Bush), about the direction of our country and about the opposition he is facing from the Republicans.

Everyday I get more and more befuddled by the mess that we call the news. I am shocked to see so many people attack science, intellectualism and education. I am shocked to see so many people cling to pre-modern beliefs that are bad ideas. I am not talking about beliefs such as religion or morality; those are for individuals to choose on their own.

Tomorrow on January 19th, 2010 there will be a special election in Massachusetts to decide who will get to hold the senate seat that was held by Sen. Ted Kennedy from 1962 until 2009. The two most prominent candidates are the Republican candidate Scott Brown and the Democrat candidate Martha Coakley.

The once great MLB pitcher Curt Schilling has been known for his off the cuff remarks and fanatical and ignorant adherence to Republicanism. Schilling has made a number of remarks that can only lead me to believe he does not know what the Republican Party stands for.

When I first read the reviews about Obama’s Nobel Prize speech from the media I was very concerned. I imagined a blood-thirsty Obama spitting in the faces of every man, women and child who represented this Peace Prize. I imagined a statement like, ‘If your not with us, your against us,” or maybe just a chilling war cry to terrify our enemies. And then I actually watched the video of this speech.

The religious and political leader of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is visiting Washington, D.C. during the week. In a stunning and stupid move, President Obama has delayed his meeting with the historic leader of Tibet in order to kiss the ass of President Hu Jintao in November. What this is really saying is that he values the economic friendship of China more so than the people of Tibet who are suffering under the communist dictatorship.

Some idiot on Facebook created a poll that is currently being investigated, the question was asked. “Should Obama be killed?” 730 people responded to this poll, with possible answers of “yes,” “maybe,” “if he cuts my health care” and “no.”
I have not been able to find the poll data that has the responses, but I would imagine it is interesting. I would also imagine that the creator of this Facebook poll is looking to hire a good attorney.
