The rumblings of the double-dip have been growing recently, if you can’t tell already. Many “experts” are divided on this issue, but it is clear that we are not back up to par just yet.

It is almost the 4th of July. It is getting hot outside and we had our first big thunderstorm of the year this past week. I love this time of the year. As we move forward celebrating another Independence Day I think it is appropriate to look at some current news stories affecting our nation.

The circus is finally wrapping up and about to leave town. Surprisingly, this circus has managed to create a new health care system in the United States and come to near Universal care. Bravo! Against all odds, Obama and the Democrat Party have managed to reform a system that needed urgent reform. The bill has already been signed into law, Tuesday, March 23, 2010. After this the bill will go onto the Senate to complete the process of reconciliation.

It has been about a week since my last posting, thank you all for you patience. There has been quite a lot going on in the world and in politics. Of course there is the earthquake in Chile that we are all paying close attention too. We also have the Health care bill resurgence that has taken place over the past couple of weeks.

It is obvious to many people that our nation is undergoing a change and we are trying to do so at a time of unparalleled debt. This can be a tricky thing to do. How can one manage the budget, fight multiple wars and have socially progressive programs? This seems like a recipe for disaster, bankruptcy and possibly far worse.

The recent election of Scott Brown to the Senate seat that was held by Ted Kennedy has caused quite a stir among both parties. The Republicans are claiming a victory against Obama and liberal ideologies, while the Democrats are claiming that this has more to do with a poor campaign by Martha Coakley and co. The truth, as usual, lies somewhere in-between.

“The Senate vote this morning was an important step forward to a final vote on health care reform. I will continue to push for a final bill that includes strong Minnesota-model cost reforms, deficit reduction, protections against insurance company abuses, and strong, stable Medicare coverage.

Statement on Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
We’ve been working on this bill for a long time. I’m proud of what we’re doing, I’m really proud. Every senator has had his or her chance to speak up and help make this a better bill, or to make their case against the bill.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of health care reform. The constant realignment of positions, back and forth on legislation and overall amateurish atmosphere of this process has been absurd. But, somehow, our Democratic legislators have managed to keep the possibility of reform alive by compromising on almost every issue they claimed was steadfast.

The House of Representatives this past Saturday night, on November 7th, 2009, passed a historic bill to bring much needed “reform” to the health care of the United States. This bill was met with much fan-fare and has created a ton of momentum for the Democrats heading into the vote in the Senate.

Rep. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina is fear mongering, this is clear. But she is also a peddler of misinformation and lies. In one of the most egregious and striking comparisons yet, Rep. Foxx said that the Democrat’s health care bill should be feared MORE then terrorism. “I believe we have more to fear from the potential of that bill passing than we do from any terrorist right now in any country.”

The White House has turned to its own blog in order to battle the misinformation that is running rampant across the country. It was widely reported across the web that Sen. Red was pursuing a public option for the new healthcare bill that Obama was opposed to. It was reported that Obama wanted to keep the current Snowe and Baucus bill in order to say it was a bipartisan effort.
