Obama Healthcare Speech

Obama Healthcare Speech

President Barack Obama is campaigning for his healthcare plan as he addresses Congress tonight, 8pm EST, in a joint session (NOT that type of joint session). He plans to put an end to the hysteria by outlining in a clear, but, detailed manner why we need health care reform. Also, in this speech Obama will be answering some of the questions that his opponents have put forth.  Obama will need to address the questions that pertain to death panels, taxation, quality of care and many others as well.

Advisor to Obama resigns

Advisor to Obama resigns

White house adviser Van Jones has resigned amid controversy. A few years back Jones signed a petition that called for an investigation into the level of involvement our government or members of our government may have had in the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. Jones also made comments in 2005 saying that after the Rodney King trial he became disenfranchised, “By August, I was a Communist.”

Jones said in a statement that, “On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”

Cheney still a big fan of torture

Cheney still a big fan of torture

Attorney General Eric Holder has recently launched an investigation into the CIA’s use of water-boarding and other methods of torturing people. In a very surprising and daring move the GOP’s conduit of complaining, Dick Cheney, is taking offense to this. What a shocker.

Can’t Trust the Government

Can’t Trust the Government

People should always retain a watchful eye on the government. We have good reason to distrust them; we have been lied to, cheated and deliberately led into false wars. Vietnam, Iraq and Spain/Cuba come to mind. The Bush administration wire-tapped US citizens, tortured people all over the world and lied to the American public to lead us into a war for reasons not yet known.

So with that being said, here is the direct quote about what you, as a concerned US citizen should do if you face misinformation about health insurance reform.

Universal Health Care: Part I

Universal Health Care: Part I

The idea of universal health care in the United States has remained the figurative 800 pound gorilla in the room.  In the our history there has never been a time that needs universal health care legislation more than we do currently.  Our country needs it and we need it now!

Today we are faced with a challenge unique to the United States.  We have been led to believe that our private system is the way to go, but now it is failing.  We spend more money, in terms of per capita and in total terms, than any other nation of the planet, but yet we have almost 50 million uninsured.

Senate Confirms the Confirmed.

Senate Confirms the Confirmed.

She did it! She has finally beaten all odds and is now the newest member of the US Supreme Court! The Senate confirmed her in a 68-31 vote. The Judge who permanently has her foot in her mouth (and maybe in other places too), has been appointed!

Sonia Sotomayor, a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit since 1997, was a “qualified” candidate for the Supreme Court and will most likely do a great job. She just has a problem of saying stupid things, but who doesn’t?

Cash for Clunkers: Support the Success

Cash for Clunkers: Support the Success

The Senate will be voting in the next few days in favor of adding an additional $2 billion to the CARS rebate program, commonly known as Cash for Clunkers. “In about six days, it is estimated that 250,000 cars were sold. On both sides of the aisle, people acknowledged the effectiveness of this initiative. And that is why yesterday, as we were seeing what was happening this week, the Obama Administration asked us to help consumers who have yet to have the opportunity to take advantage of trading in their old cars for new energy efficient models.” (Nancy Pelosi).
