The highly anticipated arrival of the new Chinese Anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) is finely upon us and (predictably) many in the US are unnecessarily fretting over this development.

I am not a law scholar. I do not pretend to be. I am just someone who tries to understand why the hell people do the stupid things that they do.

Recently, the US Coast Guard has created a rule to ban anyone from coming within 65 feet of the oil containment booms. Without Coast guard approval, of course. They originally tried to make the exclusion zone 300 feet. They claim that this is done to ensure the safety of the public. However, it is currently preventing reporters and members of the media from reporting the conditions down in the Gulf.

The Debt Commission that was appointed by President Obama earlier this year came out with a startling report.

It has begun. The lawsuit we all have been waiting for, sort of. The Federal Government has officially sued Arizona over their Immigration law. This was to be expected.

Normally, I would do some research on an issue and then give my two cents and move on. Living in MN we get a lot of the pro-ethanol propaganda and to be fair, I am not very knowledgeable on the subject.

The rumblings of the double-dip have been growing recently, if you can’t tell already. Many “experts” are divided on this issue, but it is clear that we are not back up to par just yet.

Michael Steele has come under recent criticism from almost everyone for comments he made last week. He essentially said that the war in Afghanistan is now a “war of Obama’s choosing” and that the US troops will fail.

It is almost the 4th of July. It is getting hot outside and we had our first big thunderstorm of the year this past week. I love this time of the year. As we move forward celebrating another Independence Day I think it is appropriate to look at some current news stories affecting our nation.

I have posted a few different articles, opinions and thoughts concerning China’s decision to revalue the Yuan. In similar news, Chinese manufacturing is close to overtaking the US as the top performer. Chances are that we have yet to see the last of US manufacturing and the revaluation of the Yuan will surely increase US production. But, this article did peak my interest.

I never took an economics course in college and this is something that I deeply regret. Recently, China announced that they would allow their currency (the Yuan) to float more freely. In their economy they have tighter controls and restrictions, specifically; they have artificially devalued their currency. This means that their Yuan is worth less then what it would be if they did not devalue it.

Many of you have heard of the horrible violence that has recently erupted all over Kyrgyzstan. Overall, hundreds of people have been murdered and many more are homeless and living in refugee camps in Uzbekistan. Atrocities have been committed by both sides and an appeal to Russia for peace keeping forces was denied.

This is thoroughly disgusting. It was bad enough that we went to war with Iraq almost solely to spur the defense industry. It is bad enough that we had a vice-president who was head of this company.
